Get Ready For Summernats Malaysia

18 August 2014

Leading up to the highly anticipated Summernats Malaysia, JPM Motorsport organized a special event by allowing members of the media to sample and drive with a few selected vehicles from the collection of Mr. J.P. Chin. Among lineup of cars were none other than the infamous Shelby GT500 'Eleanor' from the movie 'Gone In 60 Seconds'. Joining Eleanor for the cruise were other iconic American muscle cars, such as the 1960s Chevy Impala, a late '30s Chevy Coupe, and a classic Ford F-100 pickup truck.

Promoted by JPM Motorsport, Summernats Malaysia will be held at the Sepang International Circuit over four days from 29 August to 1 September 2014. Summernats (or Summer Nationals) originated in Australia as the brainchild of renowned car enthusiast Chic Henry, who kicked off the first event in 1988. Today, 26 years later, Summernats has grown into a genuine Australian icon, often regarded as the biggest event in Australia and earning itself the vote as Australia's Favourite Event in 2013 and 2014.

The prestigious event was officially launched by Yang Behormat Dato' Seri Mohamed Nazri bin Tan Sri Abdul Aziz, the Minister of Tourism and Culture Malaysia together with Mr. Russell Avis, General Manager of Summernats Australia, Mr. J.P. Chin, Founder of JPM Motorsport and witnessed by Ms. Susan Kahwati, Senior Trade & Investment Commissioner of the Australian Trade Commission in Malaysia & Brunei and Datuk Razlan Razali, Chief Executive Officer of Sepang International Circuit.

Over the course of four days visitors will be exposed to a fun-filled weekend of motoring mayhem, which includes the Merdeka Millennium Endurance Race, the biggest gathering or cars and bikes on the Sepang track, a showcase gallery of modified machines, the Summernats Street Parade, and the Burnout event. Other activities include the 11.08km Merdeka Run on the Sepang track, the biggest gathering of bicycles on Sepang, the Miss Summernats Malaysia Pageant, the PLAYBOY Fashion Show, and much more.
