Summernats Malaysia countdown

PETALING JAYA: It's time to get car crazy as Australia's biggest automotive event, Summer Nationals or Summernats in short, is making its Malaysian debut in a mega-packed fun-filled three day event at Sepang International Circuit from Aug 29 to 31.

The first ever Summernats Malaysia, promoted by JPM Motorsport, is pulling out all the stops as it not only features hundreds of American and European classic, sports and muscle cars on display and the participation of local car and supercar clubs but it will also include the Sepang 11.08km Merdeka Run, the Biggest Merdeka Summernats Bicycle Gathering and it coincides with the annual 12-Hour Malaysia Merdeka Endurance Race.

But wait, there's more. Besides the display of cars, there will also be a huge gathering of all types of motorcycles too like choppers, superbikes, and vespas.

Then there is the Summernats Burnout demo, Best Local Custom Car and Motorcycle competition, and the Ultra Racing Gymkhana for local car enthusiasts, Miss Summernats Malaysia Pageant and Fashion Show, Summernats Street Dance competition, hotdog/burger and durian eating contest, Battle of the Band competition and an International Food Fest featuring the best of Malaysian and Australian cuisine.

The founder of JPM Motorsport JP Chin said, "Having an event, not only for the enthusiast, but one which caters to the entire family is something we strongly believe in. We've proven this to become a successful formula for three years running when we previously acquired the rights to host the Malaysian round of the Super GT championship."

Members of the public who are interested in participating in the Sepang 11.08km Merdeka Run need to register by Aug 15 and pay a fee of RM30.

Visitors and participants are encouraged to download the mobile app Summernats Malaysia available on both on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The app provides convenient information retrieval of the the event including ticket purchasing and registration.

Tickets are priced at RM100 for three days and its free for children under the age of 12.
